Multiplayer – Our Picks

1. Rocket LeagueRocket_League

If arcade racing games and football are your thing you should check this out. In Rocket League you are playing football with cars (Yes! you’ve read that right) you can jump and flick with amazing aerial shots and car explosions. Its a very competitive game (1v1, 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4) which requires skill. Just like normal soccer – only now you can’t pretend you’ve hurt your leg :p. Its more fun when you play with your friends and family – supports online multiplayer and local co-op. Highly recommended.

Steam user review: Such a fun and addictive game I forgot to masturbate.

2. FIFA 16 :Fifa16

FIFA 16 – the ultimate in local co-op. Now with better online options. It’s seasons mode has players ranked across 10 divisions, you climb up divisions as you get wins and each promotion comes with a step up in player skill. The Ultimate team mode changed this year with player loans which improves an already awesome manage-your-own-club mode. If you are a big fan of football this game is definitely a must have.

3. Counter Strike : Global Offensive Csgo.png

Counter Strike Global Offensive just refuses to die out. Always on the multiplayer horizon CS GO is a massive upgrade from the days of 1.6. According to steam statistics more than 600,000 people play Counter Strike Global Offensive everyday, and that’s after two decades of the original Counter Strike release. The game gets regular updates which feature new items, skins and maps made by the developers. Prepare for lots of fun and tense moments both casually and competitively.

Steam User reviewGood Game. I am failing all my classes now.

4. World of WarcraftWorld of warcraft

Over 6 million years of playtime, 6 expansions and 7 million plus monthly subscribers! THAT is the legend that is World of Warcraft. This epic MMORPG has aged well since its first release in 2004. With a movie on the way in 2016, WOW is nothing less than a pop culture phenomenon. Endless questing, epic boss fights and that insatiable desire for better gear has kept this experience from getting stale. Topping that off are 25v25 battle arenas and brilliant PVP mechanics – this one’s a classic!

5. DOTA 2 : dota-2

To get an idea of how crazy the e-sports scene is with DOTA 2, the 2015 International tournament awarded the biggest prize pool in e-sports history at over $18 million! Some steam reviews give you an idea of the following this game has.

Steam user review : Dota 2, where do I start. This game has ruined my social life.I spend every day on this game, training, waiting, and drinking through my mountain dew, to one day become the greatest.

My father said to me, “Son, you will never be dondo.”

I said to my father, “Dad, i mid, or i feed.”

My father dropped to the ground in tears, screaming at the all mighty Gabe Newell, begging for his son back. But it was too late, I was already back on dota, at mid, blaming my team for sucking.

This game is why i wake up, why i masturbate, why i decide that masturbate while playing is a good idea. Thank you for such an amazing game, without this game I would have nothing to get mad at when i am back solid.

6. League of LegendLOL

Hugely popular and free-to-play game developed by Riot games. With its amazing variety of Champions, rewarding progression systems, and fast but intensely strategic team play. This game is similar to DOTA 2 but has more detail and depth. The game is addictive and how – 27 million people watched the world championship final game in 2014  with the prize pool of $2.13 million. If you are bored playing DOTA 2, take this out for a spin.

Metacritic user reviewLeague of legends is all of my life i need air water food and LoL 😀

What are we up to?

So there you have it, MVP gaming is up and running on its feet :). Regular orders flowing in, keeping the rent cheques going \m/!

On first glance it seems like we’re swimming against the tide (more like a huge ass tidal wave). Consoles have taken over the living room, mobile and tablet gaming is through the roof with India poised to become the largest market for smartphones by 2017. So why get into this?

In a nutshell, because we love it!

At length – we see a lot of things that could be different. Practically every major design breakthrough and product R&D happens within Indian borders, if not by Indians living overseas. This gets manufactured in China and is sold back to us!
At a premium even – the import duties don’t help either.

Its one of our pipe dreams to change some of that, more on that later! 🙂

We’re one of the few (if not the only) modding and PC gaming company out here in India, and we are excited to share what we’re up to, here goes:

Sleeved CablingSleeved001

That’s how our products look on the inside 🙂

We’ve been racking our brains and our suppliers to get hold of the “good stuff”, to make our gaming rigs look as insane as that!

We’re looking to release the tools, custom sleeving and DIY videos on how you can get the same results in your own rigs. Expect this to be out shortly!

Custom Lighting

We searched far and wide for a product to fit the bill which was available locally, and at a reasonable price for lighting up our magnum opus – in the end we took it on ourselves to make it! It’s available on our website & on Amazon at a very reasonable price.

What’s in the works? A software/hardware controlled lighting strip with all colors of the rainbow and then some – Pulsating red anyone?

Case Design

Our pet project(s), we’re manufacturing our own cases! We’ve got the basic design ideas in place , here’s a sketch. This is intended to be a liquid cooling friendly, wall mountable open air design. We’re super pumped for this and can’t wait to share our progress on this one. There are other designs too – stay tuned 😀

That’s just some of the stuff that we’re getting our hands dirty with, for now.

Don’t forget to subscribe to our blog for regular (or maybe not) updates.

Road to Global Elite – CS:GO

HEY! I’m “Prophecy”, After 2 years of World of Warcraft (and countless achievements) it got boring so I decided to get back to Counter Strike (CS), I then installed CS:GO, got my first 10 wins and started in the Silver League. After 2000 hours on record I am finally global elite. As with most things, its not that hard to be a decent shot at CS, but it gets progressively harder as you move up the ranks, especially if you want to move beyond Distinguished Master Guardian (DMG). I see a lot of players who plateau here, and a few tweaks to their game-play could easily make a difference of a rank or two. Having said that this piece is really about those who have the hang of CS and understand the basic dynamics and know how not to die as soon as you spawn, but want to move through the ranks and rack up competitive wins.

Here are the few useful tips to improve your gameplay.

Aim and accuracy – Practice, Practice, Practice

Practice your aim by shooting on the wall, this seems silly but its the best way to improve your aim. Every gun in CS:GO has a different and unique pattern.

wall spray

For example learning recoil control for AK-47 & M4a4 comes with time but can be practice. There are lots of custom maps available to learn the recoil control. Also there are aim map Deathmatch servers that rotate between maps like aim_usp and aim_ak-colt which allow you to focus more on long-range shooting and controlling your rifle at a distance.

STOP RELOADING! – This is something minor, but a lot of good players die during competitive games unnecessarily because they compulsively reload after shooting off a few rounds – especially after getting a frag. This is lethal, particularly if you’re watching a choke point where an entire team rush could be behind the first guy. Always remember – it takes only one or two well placed bullets to kill someone, so don’t hit reload at every chance that you get.

Mouse sensitivity – High or Low ?

It’s worth the investment to get good gaming mouse and mousepad, and if you have some extra cash a 100-144 Hz monitor will make it a lot easier on your eyes. Make sure you have the correct refresh rates and you are playing on a sensitivity and screen resolution that are comfortable for you.

I often get asked by a lot of my teammates and friends who would ask about the sensitivity I play on, the answer is that there is no one size that fits all! (stop downloading cfg settings :P)

Mouse

A high sensitivity causes you to make many near misses because you have to stop your wrist more precisely. It leads to making many readjustments after the first attempt which wastes precious seconds (micro-seconds!). This disadvantage is at longer ranges because your crosshair skips more pixels, making opponents tiny heads and moving targets unreasonably difficult to follow. It all takes too much time that you can’t afford.

The real trick is to play at a low sensitivity where you practically never have to fall back on a fluke shot. It’s a lot easier to get your aim right the first time and follow heads. If you pre-aim where you expect the enemy to be, even a sprayer (spray & pray!) won’t have their close range advantage.

Team communication – No Maa Behen Rage!

Messaging: Indians playing in match making (MM) usually have the biggest problem in communication, Keep calm and relax because “maa behen gaali” and rage doesn’t work out. CS is a game that relies only on information, in order to communicate effectively just provide your teammate with the most accurate info u can possibly provide, NO assumptions.  Correct information is only what you see and hear, learn the name of all the specific spots and call out (Firebox, A main or B main, forklift, sandbags, vents etc.)

maxresdefault

If your playing in CT side don’t call it “rush” unless you see 3 or 4 opponents with a BOMB, because in high rank matches Terrorists usually fake a site by throwing flashes and smokes to distract CT player rotation. Most importantly – When dead please keep the mic clear for your other teammates who are still alive, hearing the footsteps is important not your “bakwaas”.

All ears: Needless to say, you cannot provide good information, unless you get good information. For this reason – please, and I cannot stress this point enough – invest in a seriously good pair of headphones and a mike, which can usually make the difference between getting caught between a split rush, and a clever rotate that wins your team the round.

On your radar: The radar offers a wealth of information about your team, enemies and how the round is shaping up. If used properly, and paid attention to – you will start setting up better cross-fires, rush better and cause a lot more damage to your opponents. Remember, these guys are probably as badass as you with the AK-47, so it will take all your map savvy and smarts to beat them.

Co-ordination and Strategies

Co-ordination plays a major role in CS:GO for which you need to practice a LOT.

image-5-top-5-memes-counter-strike.jpg

A few quick tips (of the top of my head) to look at are as follows:

  • Learn proper smokes and pop flashes – pop flashes usually work best during rushes. YouTube is the best source to learn flashes and smokes.
  • Stop playing Dust2 – Try queuing with more competitive maps instead of playing just Dust 2 (everyone is guilty of this).
  • Smoke Screen! – One-way smokes are quite helpful, with a good aim you can at least kill 2 or 3 enemies easily.
  • Buy Smart – Do not force buy when your team is broke. Force buys are effective sometimes but not always, play 1 or 2 eco rounds to maintain your economy.
  • Pistol rounds – Make a habit of buying smokes and flashes instead of buying Kevlar vest during pistol rounds, enemies can still 1 tap you.
  • Back your team up – Don’t let your teammates rush into bombsites alone – this is a numbers game, make sure you have them on your side

I intended this as a brief on CS GO tips / tricks, I’m sure there’s a tome’s worth that been missed out – I’ll try to cover more the next time – Reach out to me on shazaib@themvp.in; A shout out to the guys at MVP Gaming – check us out at www.themvp.in
